Before you visit

Do I need a referral to see Dr Leong?
Many patients are referred by their GP or optometrist, which helps us understand your history before your visit. If you'd like to arrange a consultation directly, please call the clinic on 04 470 7663 and we'll guide you through the next steps.
Where is the clinic, and is there parking?
You'll find us at our purpose-built clinic at 11 Walter Street, in the heart of Te Aro, Wellington. There are a few free parking spaces on site plus metered street parking nearby, a covered drop-off at the door, and we're a minute from central bus routes. See our Getting Here page for directions, or call us on 04 470 7663.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring your glasses, any current eye drops or medications, a list of your medical history, and your referral letter if you have one. Your eyes may be dilated for the examination, which can blur your vision for a few hours, so it's best to arrange a lift or not drive yourself home.
How long will my appointment take?
Allow up to two hours, especially for a first visit. A specialist eye assessment is thorough — there's time for imaging, a careful examination and a proper conversation about your options, so nothing feels rushed. Your eyes may be dilated, which blurs vision for a few hours, so it's best not to drive yourself home.
Are you a private clinic, and what are the costs?
The Eye Clinic is a private specialist practice. Fees depend on the consultation and any treatment involved, so please call us on 04 470 7663 for current pricing — we're happy to explain everything before you book.
